Robot to help elderly in development in China

Chinese scientists are working on the market launch phase of a robot that is designed to help elderly people. The main focus right now is to reduce the cost of the robot, which the developers aims to bring down to 4K-7K in US dollars. The robot will have functions like fetching medicine and food, sounding alarms in case of utility leakages, sending texts or videos wirelessly, and entertainment such as singing song, playing chess etc…The robot is anticipated to serve a market of around 160 million elderly people in China alone.
